Grillin’ and Chillin’

In sync with the season, Marketing Werks launched the Char-Broil Infrared Grilling Tour in late spring.   The Char-Broil tour began its seventh year by launching in Columbus, Georgia at Char-Broil headquarters and heading to Jacksonville, Fla., where it made stops at corporate events in conjunction with new tour partner Miller Lite. In June, the tour will attend events such as the Taste of Cincinnati, Taste of Charlotte, the NASCAR All-Star Race and NASCAR Lifelock 400 and, of course the Big Apple BBQ Block Party to teach grill lovers about infrared grills. You can say I am both a student and teacher of marketing.  Since college I have always kept abreast of the latest and greatest in marketing buzzwords and/or jargon (i.e., eloquent words or groups of words or even acronyms that transcend abstract thoughts).   Buzzwords such as ROI, engagement, user intent, social networking, community, integrated, incremental, etc.  As you know, this list goes on and on, but what does all this mean?  As a marketing professional for nearly 20 years and an adjunct professor at the University of Chicago where I teach promotional marketing, I have witness both clients and students misuse buzzwords repeatedly.
