Dan Brice
My title is VP, Client Service
But really I'm a guy who's not big on titles. It's more about proving yourself and doing whatever it takes to get the job done.
- I got into this business because I needed a change and wanted to be challenged. I heard about an opportunity to hit the road in March of ‘99 through my boss at the Chicago Mayor’s Office of Special Events. She thought the job description (”If you like MTV Road Rules, this is the job for you”) was right up my alley, and she was absolutely correct.
- I think the smartest thing anyone said about marketing is, “It’s about the people and relationships you create. It starts with marketing yourself and establishing trust.”
- The road taught me more than I ever learned in school. It expanded my horizons and taught me to adapt to different environments. It also taught me how to manage my own time.
- The strangest experience I’ve had so far is being punched in the stomach by a pre-”Mad Money” Jim Cramer as I wore the Hershey’s Kiss mascot costume for a morning news appearance in NYC. Happy Valentine’s Day to you too, Mr. Cramer.
- I grew up in Bridgeport, a tight-knit neighborhood on Chicago’s Southside. It taught me that there’s nothing more important in life than family and friends.
- Whenever I give advice, that’s my father coming through.
- I will always ask about the details. I like to understand every aspect of the situation I’m getting myself into.
- Selling peanuts with my brother outside of Sox Park actually helped me prepare for this. Because it allowed me to speak in front of large groups of people and be as creative as possible. It also taught me how to handle rejection. I never would have imagined that it would all come full circle eight years later, as I drove the Mr. Peanut Hot Rod around the country. Guess I’ve always worked for peanuts.
- If my life has a soundtrack, it’s “Life Is Too Short.”
- The first ad I remember is Empire carpet, “588-2300 Empire”. That jingle played repeatedly in my head throughout childhood.
- When I’m not doing this, I like to DJ on the side and turn friends on to music they may have never heard.
- If forced to give up Chicago winters, I’d probably be a lot skinnier.
- My favorite movie is City of God. It teaches me to be grateful for the life I have and that someone always has it worse off than I do.
- The best place I’ve ever visited is Paris.
- I believe this business is all about treating people well and being genuine.
- I’m good at this because I truly believe in what we do. It’s easy to perform when you love your job and the people you work with.
