Marketing Works link swirls
Eric Baker

My title is VP, Client Services

But really I'm the keeper of client happiness.

  • I got into this business because ever since college I knew I wanted to be part of event marketing in some capacity.  The interactions, the excitement, and the ability to influence and impact someone from both a personal and consumer standpoint is uplifting.
  • I think the smartest thing anyone said about marketing is, “It’s the relationship, from the front end to the back end.”
  • The road taught me that you could learn more about consumer behavior by sitting outside a grocery store talking to shoppers about hot dogs than any focus group could ever provide.
  • I grew up in Armstrong, WI.  It taught me that no matter where you start we all finish in the same place and you can always find good in everyone and every experience.
  • Studying at the University of Limerick actually helped me prepare for this. It took me out of my comfort zone and made me be able to adapt to different situations and people everyday.
  • The first thing I ever sold was string cheese at the Baker Country Cheese Store.
  • If my life has a soundtrack, it’s “Into the Wild.”
  • The first marketing or ad I remember is a Baker Cheese print ad. “Join the Baker team and become a first stringer.”
  • When I’m not doing this I run marathons, hang out with my family (especially the nieces and nephew), watch the Milwaukee Brewers or catch a concert with my fiance.
  • I went to DePaul University and studied Management Entrepreneurship.   Because I grew up in a family business, I understand the importance of being only as good as the people you work with and have the ability to understand all aspects of a job from budgeting to HR to accounting.
  • My favorite movie is With HonorsIt teaches me to always live in the moment and to be open to every experience, be it personal or professional.
  • The best place I’ve ever visited is home, Armstrong, WI.  Nothing can ever replicate the feeling I get when I return to my small hometown with family and friends. Above all, it keeps life in perspective and makes you recognize the good you have in life.
  • I refuse to ’sell’ an idea or concept that I don’t believe in.
  • What I bring to each assignment is open mindedness; every project is unique and we can’t develop ‘cookie-cutter’ programs and be successful.
  • I believe this business is all about listening and delivering.
  • I’m good at this because I get that it all starts and ends with an understanding of people.  If you have the ability to relate, listen, and put concepts and ideas into words that people understand, they will believe what you say.
